Fishery Consultant’s report for October 2019
The returns for October 2019 show an 88 fish improvement on October 2018, 827 trout were caught at 320 angler visits: 2.58 trout per visit. Over the season, over 8000 trout were returned to the water, a new record. The average number of fish caught per member for the season is also a new record.
The water levels at Hallington West rose quickly and boat fishing had to be suspended. East fell throughout the month and ended as the best lake for the month, with 520 trout caught. In East, lures were the best flies fished with an intermediate line. In the West reservoir floating lines and smaller flies were doing best despite the very high water levels.
Unlike past seasons we now are able to fish on until the end of November. And although the West’s boats cannot currently be accessed, all the boats will stay on the water until the end of the season. They will be removed on 1st December.
